With over 30 years of experience in psychotherapy, education, and consultancy, Carmen Dominguez specializes in substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health issues, and trauma-based care. She integrates science-based models, mindfulness practices, and expressive therapies to foster transformative healing. Shaped by her pivotal work during the HIV/AIDS crisis, Carmen advocates for nurturing relational environments that promote self-awareness and compassionate inquiry.
Carmen's approach is informed by relational cultural theory, polyvagal theory, and systemic approaches, with advanced training in Family Therapy from the Cambridge Family Institute. She utilizes techniques such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic trauma therapy, and breathwork as a certified soma breath practitioner.
As an adjunct professor at Lesley University, Carmen has spent over two decades educating future therapists and regularly facilitates staff and intern training to promote holistic wellness in behavioral healthcare.
